Story

Hyo-Jung Kang's ballet journey began at Sunwha Art Middle School in Seoul (KR), followed by training at the Kirov Ballet Academy in Washington D.C. (USA) from 1998 to 2002. She then toured Korea with the Universal Ballet Company and participated in the Prix de Lausanne in 2002. Continuing her training at the John Cranko School in Stuttgart (DE), she joined the Stuttgart Ballet, rising from élève to principal dancer under the direction of Reid Anderson. In the 2021/22 season, she joined the Vienna State Ballet as first soloist.

Kang boasts a diverse repertoire, excelling in both classical and contemporary works. She has portrayed iconic roles including Juliet in "Romeo and Juliet," Odette/Odile in "Swan Lake," and Giselle. Her performances have been acclaimed worldwide, showcasing her versatility and artistry. Kang has collaborated with esteemed choreographers such as John Cranko, George Balanchine, and Martin Schläpfer, earning accolades including a nomination as "Dancer of the Year" in the critics' survey for the yearbook 2022 and 2023 by the magazine Tanz.
